QUEENS CENTER WELCOME PRIDE WITH ENTERTAINMENT

Monday, May 14 was the day Pride and Entertainment intercepted one another at Queens Center Mall. The occasion was the second Annual Celebration of “LGBT Pride” an event put together by Councilman Daniel Dromm, Chair of New York City Council Finance Committee. This event leads to June Pride Month events which features a day filled with parade and entertainment in Jackson Heights Queens.

The venue for this year’s National Action Network Inc NAN could not be any more familiar, Sheraton Times Square Hotel and Towers 53rd and Seventh Avenue was where big summits such as Clinton Global Initiative and Rainbow PUSH use to hold annually. While CGI is all but extinct a little over a year ago, NAN Summit taunting civil rights, equal justice and political inclusion under present dispensation becomes even more magnified.

There have been three milestone “Firsts” which have been credited to Dillip Chauhan. For one, when Chauhan, now 47, who was born in India and immigrated to America in 1999, received the New York State and City Hall’s Political Rising Star 40 Under Award in 2007, he became the first person of South Asian ancestry to be so honored.
