LOS ANGELES — (January 18, 2017) — Winners for PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2017 were announced during a live broadcast hosted by Joel McHale (The Great Indoors) at the Microsoft Theater on Wednesday, January 18th (9:00 PM-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Ellen DeGeneres was the big winner of the night, becoming the most decorated People’s Choice Awards winner in history, taking home “Favorite Daytime TV Host,” “Favorite Animated Movie Voice” and “Favorite Comedic Collaboration” for a lifetime total of 20 awards. Big names in acting categories include Priyanka Chopra, Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hanks, Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, Melissa McCarthy, Sarah Jessica Parker and Sofia Vergara. The Big Bang Theory took home “Favorite Network TV Comedy” for the 5th consecutive year. In music, Justin Timberlake was on hand to accept “Favorite Male Artist” and “Favorite Song” for “Can’t Stop the Feeling.” Blake Shelton, who performed “Everytime I Hear That Song,” won “Favorite Male Country Artist” and “Favorite Album” for If I’m Honest while Fifth Harmony, performing “Work From Home” for the first time in 2017, took home “Favorite Group” for the second year in a row.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2017 featured the presentation of the fifth annual award for “Favorite Humanitarian,” presented by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, to Tyler Perry. In support of Perry’s tireless efforts to help those in need, Enterprise is donating $100,000 to Perry’s charity of choice, the Global Medical Relief Fund for Children. Past winners of this award include Sandra Bullock in 2013, Jennifer Hudson in 2014, Ben Affleck in 2015 and Ellen DeGeneres in 2016.
