On Thursday, September 27 at the Nigerian House in New York City overlooking the United Nations where the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly was taking place, the wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Mrs. Aisha Muhammadu Buhari was decorated with distinguished Global Awards. Before a packed house on the 21st Floor of this Nigerian owned tall glass edifice of a building that will make any national proud, invited dignitaries who were their included First Lady of Gambia, wives of Governors, Minister of Health Isaac Folorunso Adewole, EFCC Chairman Mr. Ibrahim Magu and Mr. Nicholas Ella who was former Council General and now head of Economic Development, Princess Dr. Morandeun Ogunlana and Lady Patricia Mekamkwe a philanthropist and President of Umuada Igbo NY.

 

Mrs. Buhari was bestowed with Distinguished Global Award for Excellence in Women Empowerment and Gender Development during the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly plus the Honorary Citizen of Georgia Award from the State of Georgia, presenting the award Dr. Blessing Itua President and CEO of GEM noted the award was for her unflinching dedication fighting for women issues and children through her entity “Future Assured” Project.

 

The visionary Founder of Global Empowerment Movement is Dr. Blessing Itua, recipient of President Obama Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Service and a multi-award –winning Nigerian American Author, Gender and Development Advocate, has been honored with Congressional citations and Goodwill Ambassador for the State Georgia.
